The artist, known for his soulful melodies and contributions to Ghana’s music scene, is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree at the institution. According to his manager, Nana Poku Ashis, Kwabena will contest in the SRC elections scheduled for May 30, 2025.

Kwabena Kwabena’s foray into student politics adds him to a growing list of Ghanaian musicians who have transitioned into leadership roles within academic institutions. Notable names include Samini, who served as SRC president at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Guru at the University of Ghana, and Dr. Cryme at the Methodist University. This trend highlights the increasing influence of entertainers in shaping student governance and representation.

Before his political aspirations, Kwabena Kwabena built a successful career in music, with hits like “Aso” and “Siwagedem” earning him widespread acclaim. He recently released a new EP titled God of Restoration, featuring tracks such as “Fakye,” “Adom,” and “Apostolic Hymn 136.” The project has been well-received by fans, further solidifying his place in the highlife genre.

Kwabena’s educational background includes studies at St. Peter’s Secondary School and Accra Polytechnic (now Accra Technical University), where he earned his Higher National Diploma (HND). His decision to return to academia and engage in student politics reflects his commitment to personal growth and service.

As the 2025 UPSA SRC elections approach, Kwabena Kwabena’s campaign will undoubtedly draw attention, given his popularity and the precedent set by other musician-turned-leaders. His ability to balance his academic pursuits, music career, and political ambitions will be closely watched by students and the public alike. The election results will determine whether this highlife icon can translate his artistic influence into effective student leadership.
