Gospel Artistes Should Take Advantage Of Digital Media – Victoria Bohyeba
Gospel artiste Bohyeba Victoria has called on her colleagues in the gospel industry to embrace digital media as an essential tool for survival and success rather than viewing it as a passing trend. She emphasized that digital platforms have become the backbone of modern music promotion, urging gospel musicians to shift from over-reliance on traditional media like radio and television.
Speaking in an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Victoria, who recently released her new single Your Mercy Reigns, expressed concern over the slow adoption of digital strategies by gospel artistes compared to their secular counterparts. She noted that secular musicians dominate platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, leveraging them for audience engagement, content distribution, and influencer collaborations—an approach she believes gospel artistes should replicate.
“The Internet has levelled the playing field. You don’t have to be a big name to be heard anymore. What you need is consistency, strategy, and understanding how the platforms work,” she stated. Victoria encouraged gospel musicians to think beyond church performances and invest in strategic online promotion to expand their reach.
She advised artistes to take initiative rather than waiting for external support. “If you’re waiting for someone to ‘push’ you, you’ll be waiting forever. Start where you are, use your phone, post regularly, and build your brand. The digital space gives you the power to be your own media house,” she added.
As the Treasurer for the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) in Greater Accra, Victoria is currently promoting Your Mercy Reigns, a song inspired by her personal experiences with divine mercy. “There were moments in my life when I felt hopeless, but God showed me mercy and helped me through. I wanted to share that story through music, to let others know that God’s mercy is real and never runs out,” she shared.
The song celebrates God’s unfailing love and faithfulness, with lyrics that express gratitude for mercy in times of weakness and unworthiness. Available on all major streaming platforms, Your Mercy Reigns serves as both a testament to Victoria’s faith and a call to action for gospel artistes to harness digital opportunities for growth and impact.
