The gospel singer Eddie SAnte recently unveiled his latest single, Afɔre (Sacrifice), a song born from a profound spiritual encounter. Overwhelmed by God’s goodness and mercy, Eddie felt compelled to share his testimony through music. The inspiration came in a dream, prompting him to record the lyrics on his phone. During a visit to his nephew’s studio in Accra, he transformed that vision into reality, laying down the track that would become his newest release.
Describing the moment as “divine orchestration,” Eddie SAnte emphasized how God’s plan and timing aligned perfectly. The song, featuring vocalist Vivi Adjei, was released on Good Friday, April 18, carrying a powerful message of sacrifice and redemption. Afɔre reflects on Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice and calls believers to respond by offering themselves to God.
In the song, Eddie and Vivi Adjei interpret the theme of sacrifice in distinct yet complementary ways. Eddie presents himself as a vessel for God’s work, while Vivi dedicates her voice as her own sacrifice. Speaking to Graphic Showbiz, Eddie explained that every song carries a spirit, and Afɔre embodies the essence of Christ’s sacrifice during Easter.
“The song highlights themes of sacrifice, worship, and redemption, tracing Jesus’ journey from Heaven to Earth, His death on the cross, and His resurrection. It also reminds us of our own call to sacrifice,” he shared.
The release of Afɔre marks a significant milestone for Eddie SAnte, reigniting his musical calling after nearly two decades. He was previously part of the group Ministers from Yahweh (MFY), which debuted with the album God’s Love in 2007. The group, consisting of three women and two men, eventually disbanded as members pursued individual paths. Now, Eddie returns with renewed passion, seeing Afɔre as a fulfillment of a long-held burden.
“It has been 18 years, but I’m excited to have finally done this. The process was a burden, but when the time came, God made it smooth for Afɔre to be birthed,” he said.
The song’s release has brought Eddie immense relief and satisfaction, reaffirming his purpose in gospel music. With Afɔre, he not only revives his ministry but also invites listeners to reflect on the depth of Christ’s love and their own response to it.
