Abankese Festival 2024 Ignites Cultural Pride In Central region

At the mention of castles in Ghana, what readily comes to mind is the slave trade, but the Abankese Music Festival has, since its inception, shown there is more to the beautiful fortresses in the Central region.

And this year, the just-ended festival, among others, deepened the cultural heritage of castles and eased the negative feelings they evoke among Ghanaians.

The just-ended Abankese Festival 2024, themed “One Beat, One People,” lit up the Central Region with a powerful celebration of music, culture, and unity.
Spanning the historic locations of Cape Coast, the festival brought thousands of attendees together in a colorful showcase of Ghanaian tradition and global connection.
From breathtaking musical performances and parades to cultural displays, this year’s festival reminded the world why Abankese is quickly becoming a premier destination for cultural tourism in Ghana.

Previous editions have seen Wanlov The Kubolor, Skrewfaze, Kojo Vypa, Lil Sherif, Saa Boy Non Don Prophecy, Akatakyie, Orkortor, Ded Buddy, and Ama Nova perform.

According to the organizers, the Abankese Music Festival is a celebration of music, arts, and culture, offering residents in Cape Coast and its environs the chance to appreciate the beauty of their cultural heritage through music.
